Football: Time Warner Cable and The Big Ten Network have issued the following joint statement:

"Time Warner and the Big Ten Network announced today that they have reached an agreement in principal on terms of carriage for the Big Ten Network and video-on-demand programming on Time Warner's lineups throughout the Big Ten Territory, including Ohio and Wisconsin. The agreement will ensure that Time Warner's customers across the Big Ten states will have access to this Saturday's Big Ten college football openers and all future Big Ten Network programming on an expanded basic level of service."

Football: The depth chart for the Youngstown State game has been issued and there are a few surprises, the biggest surprise is at left guard where Scott Sika is listed as the backup to starter Steve Rehring. Kyle Mitchum was expected to backup Rehring but has been hampered with an ankle injury.

At tailback in what can probably be called a mild upset Boom Herron is listed at the backup to Beanie Wells. Herron has apparently moved past both Maurice Wells and Brandon Saine. Saine has been hampered by injuries, but is listed as a kick returner on the depth chart.

At quarterback, Joe Bauserman backs up starter Todd Boeckman.

The depth chart for the YSU game is now online!

August 18, 2008 10:10 PM

Football: OSU conducted an open practice tonight which was so nondescript that it made vanilla look sexy. We did pick up a few bullet points.

* All three quarterbacks wore black, no-contact jerseys. That took scrambling out of the equation. The passing drills focused primarily on the short game and goal line situations, so there was very little to see.

* No players wore yellow jerseys despite the fact that several were obviously not quite fully 100 percent. It appeared that the OSU coaching staff attempted to put up a bit of a smokescreen regarding player injuries.

* Terrelle Pryor played exactly the way Jim Tressel has been describing him. Pryor definitely stood strong in the pocket and looked downfield, not to run. He also delivered the ball with a distinct overhand throwing motion, not with the sidearm delivery he used in high school.

* Dane Sanzenbacher made an excellent TD catch during goal line drills of a pass thrown by Todd Boeckman. Tressel also talked about Sanzenbacher in his remarks to reporters before the practice.

* Lawrence Wilson's participation was very limited in apparent response to the minor injury Tressel reported he sustained in the jersey scrimmage.

* According to OSU officials there were 12,000 fans on hand for practice.

Football: How fast can you read? Are you tough enough to read quickly through something that isn't pleasant to read? There may be an important parallel in college football. Tough it out and speed-read through our observations on the Speed Myth now on Columns and Features

August 17, 2008 10:15 PM

Football: Tony "88" Gerdeman has given us his number 11, 10 and nine picks in the Big Ten. Now he's giving us...number six? Who are we to argue with somebody people call "88". If Tony wants to go with number six, we're good with it. Check it out on Columns and Features.

Head Coach Jim TresselAugust 17, 2008 7:10 PM

Football: Several seniors spoke with reporters following the jersey scrimmage on Saturday. Check out our videos of the event.

Part-1: Todd Boeckman and Malcolm Jenkins

Football:

Terrelle Pryor.

Now that we have your undivided attention again, check out Report Number Two now on Columns and Features.

August 17, 2008 11:10 AM

Football: What a differnce a year makes. Last season the concern was whether the Buckeyes would be able to find some wide receivers. This year the concern is whether there will be enough balls to go around to keep all the wide receiver talent happy. Check out the-Ozone report on Columns and Features.

Head Coach Jim TresselAugust 16, 2008 7:15 PM

Football: The team took part in the Jersey Scrimmage in Ohio Sadium on Saturday. Head Coach Jim Tressel broke down the event for reporters after practice. Check out Part-1 of the video, now online!

Part-2 of the video is now online!

August 16, 2008 2:55 PM

Football: The annual Jersey Scrimmage was conducted in Ohio Stadium this morning and the offense earned the right to continue to wear the scarlet jerseys at practice with a 72-52 win over the defense.

* Both Joe Bauserman and Terrelle Pryor scored rushing touchdowns in the game. Bauserman and Pryor were "live" (subject to being hit) while Todd Boeckman wore a black "don't hit" jersey. Each quarterback got approximately one third of the snaps. All of Boeckman's came with the first team offense. Bauserman and Pryor split time with the second and third teams. Jim Tressel described Bauserman's TD run as a "Sports Center" type play. Boeckman had no TD passes and no interceptions.

* Tressel mentioned wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher as a player who made some exceptional plays in the scrimmage.

* Beanie Wells did not participate at the discretion of the head coach. "I've seen Beanie. He's pretty good," Tressel quipped when asked by Wells did not play. Boom Herron got a lot of work at tailback as did Maurice Wells.

* Tressel reported that there were no major injuries, though Lawrence Wilson did not participate in the last 15 plays or so due to a minor injury. According to Tressel, the Buckeyes ran around 165 plays.

* The defense produced "2 or 3" turnovers according to Tressel. There were two fumble recoveries and one interception on a tipped ball. The fumbles recovered wer fumbles by Joe Gantz and Terelle Pryor.

August 13, 2008 5:45 AM

Football: The conventional wisdom this fall is that the OSU defensive line may be the weakness of the team. Defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Jim Heacock thinks the conventional wisdom may not be so wise. Check out the complete story now on Columns and Features.

August 13, 2008 4:50 AM

Big Ten Network: Big Ten Network Chief Mark Silverman was in Columbus yesterday to speak to OSU officials and to do a little PR work. Check out the-Ozone report now on Columns and Features.
